Best Friend Fix terms

Terms of Use

Last updated 27 September 2026

These are the rules for using Best Friend Fix (the website at bestfriendfix.com and the Windows app). By using it, you agree to them. They are written to be read, not to be skipped.

What it is

Best Friend Fix connects two people so one can see the other's screen, talk to them, and — only with permission — control their mouse and keyboard. It is free. There is no account and nothing to pay.

Only with people you trust

Never let someone you don't know control your computer. If anyone contacts you out of the blue — claiming to be from Microsoft, your bank, a delivery company, or "technical support" — and asks you to install this or share a code with them, it is a scam. Real companies never ask for that. Close it and tell someone you trust.

The link and the 6-digit code are the keys to your screen. Send them only to the friend you meant to ask for help, and never post them anywhere public.

What you agree not to do

Using it for any of the above is a misuse of the service, and may also be a crime where you live.

You decide who is on your screen

When you share your screen, whoever you invited can see whatever is on it, so close anything private first. When you grant control, they can act on your computer as if they were sitting at it. You choose whether to grant it, you can refuse, and you can end it instantly with the Stop button, the red banner, or Ctrl + Alt + Shift + X.

Because that choice is yours, we are not responsible for what the person you invited does once you let them in, or for any change they make to your files, settings, or accounts. Pick carefully.

The app itself

You may install and use the Windows app on your own computers, for yourself and for helping people you know, at no cost. Please don't repackage it, modify it and pass it off as ours, or hand it out from somewhere else — a tampered copy of a remote-control app is exactly how people get hurt. Only ever download it from bestfriendfix.com.

No promises about it working perfectly

Best Friend Fix is provided as it is, free of charge, with no warranty of any kind. We can't promise it will always be available, that every network will allow a connection, or that it will suit a particular purpose. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss, damage, lost data, or lost time arising from using it — or from being unable to use it.

Nothing here takes away rights you have under the law of your country that cannot be signed away.

Age

If you are not old enough to agree to terms like these where you live, ask a parent or guardian to agree on your behalf and to be there while you use it.

Changes and endings

We may change the service or these terms; when the terms change, the date at the top changes. We may also stop offering the service, or stop a particular person using it if they are misusing it. You can stop using it whenever you like — there is nothing to cancel.

Privacy

What we hold and what we don't is set out on the privacy page.

Which law applies

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and the state and federal courts located in Florida have jurisdiction over any dispute — unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim closer to home.
